ABOUT ME
Travis Herberger was born and raised in Longview, Texas. For him, watercolor is the perfect medium for painting because it's elusive, unpredictable and has a mind of its own.
His paintings are reflections of his surroundings that he experiences on each canvas. Captivated by the Texas Gulf Coast region, landscapes from this region are present in his artworks. People make up an integral part of his work.
Travis Herberger uses busy urban settings as opposed to simpler landscapes as they allow him more colors and have more feeling within them than simple pictures would offer.
Travis Herberger is an artist and he loves to draw as much as he does painting. For the past 5 years, Travis has been part of a local sketch group that meets weekly and sketches a live model together. Travis' figurative work is often done directly from the model, which allows his to experience a direct connection with the subject. This connection and the emotional attachment that results can be experienced in line and color — he hopes you will share my experience and my vision.
His landscape work comes from places he has been or paintings done outdoors. When working indoors in his studio the works are done from his photographs and memories of places he has traveled. Travis Herberger loves being in nature and portraying that love through his paintings.
In Travis Herberger's paintings, travel plays an important role. As a child, he spent quite a bit of time in the Caribbean, and his travel bug has taken him to Europe, South and Central America, and Africa. Travel has given him a new perspective on the world. Travis also says "Traveling opened my eyes to so many colorful possibilities." After some time spent painting watercolors for promotional purposes - with wonderful opportunities coming out of this - he then decided to pursue acrylics on canvas full-time. His work now appears in shows around the world.
Travis Herberger is an active member of many local and national arts organizations and has served on the board of the Texas Watercolor Society for many years.
